PP RV for SPOS stands for polypropylene reaction vessels for solid-phase organic synthesis. The most comonly used reaction vessels around the world. They are inexpensive and disposable. Unlike glas reaction vessels, they do not need to be washed and they cannot be broken.
Due to its chemical resistance, Teflon has become the material of choice for manufacturing of chemical vessels. So far, production of dedicated Teflon vessels has been very expensive. Torviq designed and produced simple and affordable Teflon reaction vessels.
Polypropylene syringes (sizes 3, 5, 10, 20, and 50 mL) equipped with a porous polypropylene disc at the bottom (Krchnak, V. and Vagner, J. Peptide Res. 1990, 3, 182-193) are the simplest and least expensive disposable reaction vessel
for solid-phase organic synthesis. Syringes enable to carry out solid-phase organic synthesis in virtually any laboratory. Plastic frits are cut from porous polypropylene sheet (porosity 70 micrones).
Plastic reaction vessels can be used for solid-phase synthesis in any organic chemistry laboratory without any need for dedicated instrumentation. On the other hand, the can be advantageously used with our Domino Block synthesizer designed to integrated common steps.
Teflon reaction vessels with two inlets/outlets are designed for solid-phase synthesis. The lower Teflon cylinder has an additional opening and a polyethylene porous disk for filtering solid-phase support (resin). The lower inlet/outlet is equipped with male Luer connector, the upper opening has female Luer connector. The PE locking ring locks the position of the upper Teflon cylinder. This reaction vessel has been designed as an alternative to the popular polypropylene (PP) reaction vessels.
So far, the production of a Teflon syringe has been very expensive. Torviq designed and produced a simple and affordable Teflon syringe.
All vetted parts of Teflon syringes are constructed from standard Teflon-based products, tubings and rods. The piston handle is made of high density polyethylene. The syringe can be equipped with either male or female Luer connector. There is a choice between Teflon and polypropylene connector.
