TEFLON
SYRINGES

Home

Due to its chemical resistance, Teflon has become the material of choice whenever the highest inertness is required. So far, manufacturing of Teflon syringes has been expensive. Torviq has designed and manufactured simple and affordable Teflon syringe. Teflon syringe has numerous applications and it can replace the popular polypropylene (PP) syringe in projects requiring compatibility with large variety of chemicals. PP suffers from one serious drawback: the syringe barrel swells in certain solvents (dichloromethane, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane) and, after several hours of exposure, the syringe plunger does not provide tight seal. This problem is now solved by using the Teflon syringe

The barrel of Teflon syringe is made of FEP, the plunger and the lower cylinder are from PTFE. The handle of the plunger is made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). Stainless steel sleeve secures air-tight and leak-proof connection between the barrel and the lower Teflon cylinder. Standard syringe is equipped with a polypropylene (PP) male Luer connector. This connector can be replaced by a female PP Luer connector for the same price (please, specify when ordering). The PP connector can also be replaced by male or female Luer slip or Luer lock Teflon connector. Teflon connectors need to be ordered separately.

Teflon syringes can replace polypropylene syringes used as the simplest reaction vessels for solid-phase synthesis. Teflon syringe for solid-phase synthesis includes additional PP porous disc at the bottom of the barrel and HDPE locking ring that secures position of the piston during synthesis.
